Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are keen on acquiring the services of Liverpool midfield mainstay Ryan Gravenberch.

Barcelona might not have the best of financial situations, but they still tend to find a way to sign some of the best players in the world. The Catalan giants have already started planning for the next summer transfer window, and in order to strengthen their midfield, they have their eyes set on Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch.

According to a report from Fichajes, Hansi Flick’s team are keen on signing the Dutch international. They consider him an ideal fit for their project and have made him a priority target for next summer.

Gravenberch came up the ranks at Ajax and made quite a name for himself while playing for the Dutch giants. While his move to Bayern Munich didn’t go according to plan, he ended up joining Liverpool in the summer of 2023 to get things back on track.

The debut season at Anfield wasn’t that great for him, but the arrival of Arne Slot at the club gave him a new lifeline. The Dutch manager pushed into a deeper role in midfield, and it brought the best out of him. Gravenberch has made the defensive midfield position his own and has only gone from strength to strength over the last 18 months.

Gravenberch to join Barcelona?

His performances have placed him on the radar of Barcelona, who are looking for more quality in the centre of the park. They are on the lookout for a versatile player with great technical qualities, and Gravenberch certainly fits the bill.

However, a potential transfer won’t be that straightforward, as they will have to convince Liverpool to part ways with one of their most valuable assets. With his contract running until 2028, the Reds are certainly in a very comfortable position with regard to his future.

The Catalan giants will also have to raise funds by offloading a few of their players. Given their current financial situation, they might not be able to afford the transfer fee and offer him a lucrative deal to leave the Merseyside club.
