Aston Villa in transfer tussle to sign Dele Thomas
Aston Villa will reportedly look to sign 18-year-old Dutch attacking sensation Dele Thomas from Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven.
According to a report by Eindhovens Dagblad, Dele Thomas is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker next year. So, the 18-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger has emerged as a target for the West Midlands outfit.
The report has claimed that the young Dutchman is “coveted” in the transfer market, with Eintracht Frankfurt also keen on signing him. However, the emerging interest in his services has PSV Eindhoven panicking, with the Eredivisie title hopefuls in talks with his entourage “for weeks” over an extension on his current deal.
Who is Dele Thomas?
Ayodele Thomas, better known as Dele Thomas, is the latest highly rated prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. The 18-year-old winger has spent his formative years thus far in his homeland, starting his youth career at Almere City before spending a few years with Feyenoord. However, the youngster has graduated from the academy at PSV Eindhoven.
The Dutch winger has yet to make his senior bow for PSV Eindhoven, but he has been excellent for the Eredivisie club’s under-21 side, chipping in with five goals and seven assists in 37 outings thus far. Meanwhile, Thomas’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Aston Villa will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Aston Villa’s interest in Dele Thomas is understandable. The Villans are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the winter transfer window as Unai Emery looks to reinforce his squad for the second half of the 2025/26 season. While several strikers, including Kaio Jorge, have emerged on Aston Villa’s wishlist, they are also eager to land a wide attacker.
Recent reports have linked Aston Villa with Ansu Fati, but Thomas is also a viable target, as Fati will not be available in the winter transfer window. However, the 18-year-old Dutchman will be a project signing instead of someone who can hit the ground running in the second half of the 2025/26 season.
Meanwhile, the youngster is also a target for Eintracht Frankfurt, and the emerging interest has left PSV Eindhoven in a spot of bother. While the Eredivisie title hopefuls are panicking, they have been in talks with his entourage “for weeks” over an extension on his current deal.
