Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle make contact for Igor Thiago

Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are all keen on signing Brentford attacking mainstay Igor Thiago.

Igor Thiago is enjoying a breakthrough season at Brentford, and his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed. According to Ekrem Konur, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle are all interested in his services and have already established contact as they look to sign him.

After coming up the ranks at Cruzeiro, he had impressive spells at Ludogorets and Club Brugge before joining the Bees in the summer of 2024. Unfortunately, the 24-year-old had a disastrous debut campaign as he could only rack up 169 minutes of first-team action because of two serious knee injuries.

Igor Thiago has certainly bounced back in fashion, as he has six goals in his 10 league outings this season. He has been handed additional responsibilities following the departure of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa in the summer, and the 24-year-old hasn’t disappointed.

Premier League trio are ready to push for Igor Thiago

Having found the back of the net against teams like Manchester United and Liverpool, the Brazilian striker has further enhanced his reputation. While his contract at Brentford runs until the summer of 2029, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Tottenham are already keen on prising him away.

Unai Emery seeks more competition for Ollie Watkins and considers Thiago an ideal fit for his system. While the Magpies signed two strikers in the summer, Eddie Howe is still keen on having more firepower in the final third.

Meanwhile, Thomas Frank is also keen on signing a new number nine, as Dominic Solanke has struggled to stay fit. He wants a striker who can guarantee goals, and given the kind of form the Brentford striker has been in, he can certainly help their cause.

While all three clubs have made contact to learn more about a potential transfer, they will struggle to strike a deal with the Bees. The West London club won’t sanction his departure that easily. Having offloaded Mbeumo and Wissa in the summer, they have no intentions of losing yet another top star this early.
