Milan Reportedly Take an Interest in Young Parma Pair

Milan will take advantage of the upcoming game versus Parma to scout two future targets, Mateo Pellegrino and Zion Suzuki, from up close. The former is the latest addition to the strikers’ shortlist, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

He arrived in Serie A from Velez for €2M last January, plus a 50 percent resale clause. He has notched 8 goals in 25 appearances with the Ducali. The center-forward has also been linked to Inter.

In addition to Pellegrino, Milan are following Strasbourg’s Joaquin Panichelli, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jonathan Burkardt, and Roma’s Artem Dovbyk, while Suzuki would be one of their top options in the likely event Mike Maignan leaves at the end of the season.

Even though the Frenchman is having a bounce-back season, the talks to renew his contract haven’t resumed. The parties were far apart the last time they talked. The Japanese goalie will be in high demand next summer. The Gialloblù will have no trouble drumming up a bidding war.

Our Take on Milan Tracking Pellegrino and Suzuki

The center-forward has the characteristics they are looking for, as he’s big, fairly technical, and a proper reference point. Even though he doesn’t necessarily score a lot, but he’s in a team that doesn’t produce much offensively, he’d be a nice compromise between purchasing a proven veteran and a touted starlet from abroad, as he’s already familiar with Serie A. The main problem is that he’s more of a summer signing than a January one, while they could use the help now. Instead, they are more likely to add an experienced shot-stopper rather than a flashy and expensive youngster. It’d be surprising if they just let Maignan go without even putting up a fight.
