LFP confirm investigation into Aron Donnum’s ‘behaviour’
The LFP’s (Ligue de Football Professionnel) disciplinary committee will investigate the “behaviour” of Toulouse FC’s Aron Donnum, it has been confirmed.
In the dying minutes of the goalless draw between Le Havre AC and Toulouse, Donnüm clashed with Simon Ebonog, with the former seen waving his hand in front of his nose, directly looking at his Cameroonian opponent. The referee booked Ebonog, but not Donnum, over the incident.
Norway international risks a suspension of up to 10 games
Didier Digard told broadcaster Ligue 1 Plus that he believed the gesture to have been of a racist nature. “What is the interpretation here? If we say it wasn’t racism, then what is it? Just telling my player that he stinks? Can we say things like that when we’re just there to play football? Isn’t that demeaning, humiliating, hurtful?“ said the Le Havre manager post-match.
Donnum has denied any racist intent. The LFP have now confirmed that the incident will be investigated. The Toulouse player has been summoned by the disciplinary committee, with a hearing now scheduled for 26th November. The Norway international risks a ban of between two to 10 games.
