Aston Villa run rule over Alysson

Aston Villa scouts are in Brazil looking at a few talented players, including Gremio’s 19-year-old attacking midfielder Alysson.

According to Ekrem Konur, Aston Villa are looking to add a few attacking talents in January, including a winger, as they have a new name on their list. The West Midlands club’s scouts were present to watch Gremio talent Alysson in their win over Cruzeiro, with the Premier League side could think of approaching.

Aston Villa have been in a resurgent vein of form in recent weeks, but they have a few visible problems in the attacking third. Unai Emery’s side made some interesting signings in the summer, but not many have worked out, including the high-profile arrival of Jadon Sancho.

Emery is eager to add a few attacking options in January, including a right winger, with a host of names being linked in recent weeks. Controversial star Mason Greenwood is a name under consideration, but the costs associated with a move for the Marseille star could be prohibitive for Aston Villa ahead of January.

Kevin Schade is another name they are thinking about, but Brentford are likely to block any approaches in January. Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo is another option linked with Aston Villa, and now they are reportedly interested in Gremio attacking midfielder Alysson.

Aston Villa scouts were present in Brazil to watch Alysson, among other stars, in the game between Cruzerio and Gremio. They also scouted Cruzerio forward Kaio Jorge, but Alysson is also high on their list for right-wing targets ahead of January.

Aaton Villa watched Alysson in action

Alysson has been a regular for Gremio, with the current season being his breakthrough campaign; he has made 25 appearances in the league. He is now being courted by Aston Villa, as scouts were present to watch him in action. Their evaluation of the attacking midfielder remains unclear, but they could potentially approach it if the conditions permit.

Aston Villa are widely expected to focus on bringing new attacking talent through the door in the January window, as Emery will want a solid squad to chase a top-four place. They are also eager to go deep into the Europa League, as winning the competition allows them direct entry into next season’s Champions League, which makes the next window very important.
