Haji Wright uninterested in winter move to Leeds United
Haji Wright is reportedly uninterested in joining Leeds United in the winter transfer window, with Coventry City also unwilling to cash in on the 27-year-old striker.
According to a report by Football Insider, Haji Wright is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 27-year-old Coventry City centre-forward has emerged as a target for the West Yorkshire outfit.
However, a January move will not materialise, as the American striker is not interested in moving to Elland Road in the winter transfer window. Additionally, Coventry City will not entertain any bids to part ways with Wright, thus dealing a blow to Leeds United’s prospects
Haji Wright and his career so far
Haji Wright has established himself as one of the best strikers in the EFL Championship since joining Coventry City from Antalyaspor in August 2023. The Los Angeles native has been a journeyman in his club career, representing clubs in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Turkiye before arriving in England.
Meanwhile, Wright has been hot off the blocks in the 2025/26 season, contributing to ten goals in 15 outings across all competitions by finding the back of the net nine times and providing two assist. The USMNT international’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Leeds United may be among the prospective suitors vying for the 27-year-old striker’s signature in the winter transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Leeds United’s interest in Haji Wright makes sense. The Whites are combing the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window, even though they signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha in bargain moves this past summer. However, neither striker has been consistent in the final third, compelling Leeds United to seek a January move for a striker.
Several strikers, including Chris Wood, have thus emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Wright also a viable target. However, the 27-year-old American attacker is not interested in joining the West Yorkshire outfit in the winter transfer window. Additionally, Coventry City will not entertain
So, Leeds United must look elsewhere for a striker heading into the winter transfer window, with a move for Wright unlikely to materialise. It will be interesting to see which striker bolsters the Premier League club’s offensive unit in the coming weeks.
