Ederson and his exploits in England
Ederson has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A since joining Atalanta from Salernitana in July 2022. The 26-year-old has made significant progress in the last three years, becoming a mainstay in the middle of the park for La Dea. Additionally, his exploits have helped him break into his national squad.
The Brazilian international has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for Atalanta while chipping in with 13 goals and four assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Newcastle United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Premier League adventure soon?
Ederson has been on Newcastle United’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as Joelinton has struggled with fitness issues in the last few seasons. So, the decision-makers at the Tyneside club are eager to draw up a succession plan for the South American midfielder.
Joelinton has also struggled to remain consistent this season, and the time may come soon when he starts getting phased out as a first-choice starter. So, his compatriot has emerged as a target for Newcastle United, with his name featuring in recent recruitment meetings.
Other midfielders, including Samuele Ricci and Ardon Jashari, are also on Newcastle United’s wishlist, and a holding midfielder may soon arrive at St. James’ Park. It will be interesting to see if the 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder moves to Newcastle United in the coming months.
