Lucas Paqueta move to Manchester United ruled out
Journalist Dean Jones rules out a potential move for Lucas Paqueta to Manchester United amid reported interest in the West Ham star.
According to journalist Dean Jones on Team Talk, Manchester United’s move for Lucas Paqueta may not materialise as Jones does not see it as viable. The West Ham star has links to a switch to Old Trafford ahead of January, but the Journalists believe the club should not spend big on a player they do not necessarily need.
Lucas Paqueta could be on the way out of West Ham United, as the midfielder seeks a new challenge as well as a bigger contract in his career. In what at one point looked like a promising future, the betting charge on him may have played a role in a lack of interest in recent windows, although those allegations have since been quashed.
Hence, in the aftermath of the verdict, Aston Villa came very close to signing him at the end of the summer window, but there was no agreement with all parties. While the Hammers managed to keep hold of a key star of their team in the summer, there are doubts about how much longer they could hang on to him.
Reports are linking Paqueta to Manchester United, while other stories are stating the Brazilian could push for an exit from West Ham. Journalist Dean Jones believes the Red Devils should not move for him, as he states they do not need someone of the Brazilian’s profile.
Jones said, “He’s not really of the midfield profile they want at the moment, apart from already being in the Premier League.”
Manchester United are in the market for a new midfielder, and to an extent, the West Ham star would have fit their bill. However, they already have the likes of Bruno Fernandes, who is of a similar profile to the Brazilian, which then Jones insists is not worth spending £60 million or more on a player like Paqueta, when they can use the money elsewhere.
West Ham to sell Lucas Paqueta
West Ham are not keen to sell Paqueta in January, but there could be pressure from the board as well as the player to find a viable solution. The Brazilian has scored three times as the Hammers continue to languish in the relegation zone.
While they will be eager to keep hold of the Brazilian for as long as possible, particularly if their fortunes in the league do not improve, the West Ham star’s current deal expires in 2027. He does have the option of extending it, but the player might seek a new challenge elsewhere that could see the club possibly consider bids to their valuation in January.
