West Ham United make move for Joshua Zirkzee, Manchester United yet to give green light
West Ham United remain interested in making a move for Joshua Zirkzee, although Manchester United are yet to approve of the idea.
According to Give Me Sport, Joshua Zirkzee’s future ahead of the winter transfer window will depend on Manchester United’s stance on the striker. West Ham United remain interested in taking the Dutchman in the winter months, but the Red Devils have not given their green light yet.
Joshua Zirkzee’s future at Manchester United could be the biggest subject at the club ahead of the January window. The Dutch forward has found game time hard to come by this season, as new arrival Benjamin Sesko and then Mason Mount are ahead of the 24-year-old in the pecking order.
Ahead of the World Cup next year, Zirkzee must play with fair regularity or risk losing his place in Ronald Koeman’s squad. Hence, reports were stating the 24-year-old Manchester United ace could ask to leave the club in January, although follow-up stories have suggested the Red Devils could reject such a request.
Manchester United does not have much depth in the striker position, meaning they will only sanction a departure for Joshua Zirkzee if they can sign a replacement. Without one, they could risk derailing their season, especially if Sesko or any other forward suffered an untimely injury. Hence, they have not yet given a green light to Zirkzee’s potential departure in January amid West Ham United’s interest in the forward.
Zirkzee is wary of West Ham’s interest ahead of the winter transfer window, and they could be an option should he desire regular minutes between January and June. Manchester United hold the power in negotiations as the 24-year-old still has more than three-and-a-half years left on his deal at Old Trafford.
West Ham United keen on a new striker
West Ham have been linked with several strikers over the last few weeks, including Real Madrid’s Endrick and Flamengo’s Pedro as potential options. They are not getting the best out of experienced centre-forward Callum Wilson and Niclas Fullkrug at the moment, which has given rise to links to Joshua Zirkzee.
The idea of a permanent move for Zirkzee might be a solution for West Ham if they cannot get him from Manchester United on a loan deal. For now, there are many difficulties in tying up a move for the 24-year-old Dutch attacker , especially with the Old Trafford outfit currently reluctant to sanction a departure.
