Roma Keen on Bologna Centerpiece and Verona Talent
Roma plot to bolster their midfield in the next couple of windows and have two completely opposite profiles in their crosshairs, Bologna stalwart Remo Freuler and Verona starlet Alphadjo Cissè, who’s currently on loan at Catanzaro.
According to Il Resto del Carlino (via Tuttomercatoweb), the veteran is on an expiring contract, and the extension talks have only been preliminary so far. The Swiss talisman is weighing whether to stay in Emilia or jump to another team after a multi-year stay. He already played under Gian Piero Gasperini at Atalanta, racking up 254 appearances.
Roma are waiting in the wings to see whether Freuler would be interested in switching sides and joining them and are watching Cissè with a keen eye, Alfredo Pedullà informs. They recently had a meeting with his entourage, which represents Pierluigi Gollini and Mario Hermoso.
The Verona product stars mostly as a no.10 and has bagged five goals already, two of which on set pieces. He was highly prolific at the youth level. He debuted in Serie A with the Scaligeri on September 16th, 2024,;and has four top-flight appearances under his belt.
Our Take on Roma Eyeing Freuler and Cissè
The former still has a lot left in the tank, considering his savviness and style, and could help a few teams, and not only as a mere veteran depth piece. They didn’t manage to do it last summer because they had many priorities and not much money to spend, but there’d be only upside in giving their coach some very touted prospects to groom. They have some studs with great stamina in the midfield, but a couple more pieces wouldn’t hurt.
