‘The leaders know I can make this team win tomorrow’ – Habib Beye discusses his future as Rennes boss
Ahead of Rennes’ match against Toulouse, Habib Beye spoke to the media regarding his future as boss of Les Rouges et Noirs. Foot Mercato reported that the former Red Star would be relieved of his duties at Roazhon Park, after a run of results which has seen the Breton club go five matches without a win.
The Ligue 1 club haven’t won a game since they defeated ten-man Lyon 3-1 in the middle of September. Since that victory, Rennes have secured 4 points in 5 matches, with four draws and one defeat. This run of results has piled up the pressure on the French head coach, and it appeared he would be losing his job, only for the leadership at Rennes to offer Beye one last chance. The head coach is expected to secure a victory against Les Violets or face the sack.
Beye aware of his situation
The Rennes manager is well aware of this situation as he alluded to it in his recent press conference. Commenting on his future in Northern France, the Frenchman said, “We’re not going to play a game of dupes. You’ve all seen the information. It was supposed to stop. It continues. It continues for a very specific reason. The leaders know that I have the energy and the ability to make this team win tomorrow.”
