Barcelona front-runners to sign Mason Greenwood

Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing 24-year-old English attacker Mason Greenwood from Ligue 1 club Marseille.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Mason Greenwood is the subject of interest of Barcelona. The Marseille attacking sensation is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. However, the two Premier League clubs are behind Barcelona in the race to sign the controversial former Manchester United prodigy.

Mason Greenwood and his resurgence

Mason Greenwood has revived his career, if not his reputation, since returning from a hiatus due to issues off the pitch. The Englishman returned to prominence during a loan spell with Getafe before Marseille signed him in a deal worth £26.5 million last year. The 24-year-old was excellent in his debut season with the Ligue 1 outfit, and he has been hot off the blocks this term.

The former English international has amassed nearly eight goals and four assists in 12 outings in all competitions thus far in the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Greenwood’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

A man in demand

The controversial former Manchester United attacker has been on Manchester United’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as the Catalan giants have suffered during their injury crisis in the last few weeks. That has illustrated that Barcelona must sign a versatile attacker next year, with Greenwood emerging as a viable target.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Mason Greenwood is understandable. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a versatile attacker as they aim to fill the void that Son Heung-min has left since joining LAFC earlier this year. Additionally, Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. So, Greenwood is an option worth considering.

As for West Ham United, the Hammers desperately need a productive attacker to return to European football after a few frustrating campaigns. So, the former Manchester United prodigy is a viable target for the East London outfit. However, West Ham and Tottenham are behind Barcelona in the race to sign the 24-year-old Englishman.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will benefit from Greenwood’s next move after inserting a sell-on clause in the deal that took him to Marseille. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the controversial English attacker.
