Chelsea, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United want Samu Aghehowa

A host of Premier League sides are keen to explore a move for Samu Aghehowa in the January window, with FC Porto protected by a €100 million clause.

According to Ekrem Konur, Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa are among those willing to explore a move for Samu Agüero in the January window. The FC Porto star has a €100 million release clause in his contract, which does give the Portuguese side some leeway in negotiations, although they do face a fight to keep hold of the striker.

Samu Aghewowa could have been one of the top options for clubs back in the summer, when the market was rife with demand for new strikers. The Premier League could be a good avenue for the Spanish striker to explore his future, but there are complications ahead for clubs to get a deal in place.

For instance, Porto are protected by a 100 million release clause in His contract that would make it difficult for any club to get going with a move. However, the January window offers a challenging situation for the Portuguese side in their efforts to keep hold of the star striker.

Teams from England have been interested, as Newcastle United explored the idea back in the summer, but they chose to target other stars like Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa. The arrival of the duo does cast doubts about the Magpies and their prospects of targeting another high-profile striker in January.

However, Tottenham are keeping close tabs on the player, as it could potentially enter the market for a new striker. Some notable names are being linked to Spurs of late, but that may depend on the exit of Richarlison and what transfers of Randal Kolo Muani’s time at the club.

Chelsea and Aston Villa are keen

Chelsea are also interested in Aghehowa, and their interest goes way back when they had previously agreed a deal for the striker while he was at Atletico Madrid. However, there’s every chance to revive their interest, but Porto are also keen on keeping him.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa could prove themselves as the most credible option among the others, as they do need a new presence up front for the present and the future. Hence, they are part of the running, but may not be in a financial position to do a deal in January for the €100 million-rated Olympic gold medalist.
