Timo Werner striving for Los Angeles transfer in January
Sport Bild reports that Timo Werner is currently flirting with the two Los Angeles franchises in America’s MLS. After a deal to join RB Leipzig’s sister New York club fell through this summer, the 29-year-old still wishes to hop across the pond to the States after concluding his Bundesliga career. A move is still expected this winter.
Werner’s former German national team colleague Thomas Müller also considered joining both LA Galaxy and LAFCbefore eventually opting for Canada’s Vancouver Whitecaps. Either LA franchise would constitute a good fit for Werner. A move to the Galaxy would reunite him with another former Germany teammate, Marco Reus.
Werner has technically been reintegrated into the Leipzig squad and fulfilled something of a mentorship role for many of the new RB arrivals. The 57-times-capped German international nevertheless has no real sporting role at his current Bundesliga club.
Having made only two of head coach Ole Werner’s matchday squads and logged only one minute of meaningless action, the German Red Bulls will surely be grateful to offload Werner and his massive salary as soon as the Stuttgart-native agrees to terms with a new club in January.
