Bernardo Silva and his time at Manchester City so far

Bernardo Silva has established himself as one of the best playmakers in the Premier League since joining Manchester City from AS Monaco in a deal worth £43 million in July 2017. The 31-year-old had to win over Pep Guardiola before becoming a go-to player for the former Barcelona boss. Nevertheless, he has made considerable progress in the last eight years.

However, Silva’s long-term future at the Premier League club is uncertain, as he has entered the final 12 months of his contract. The situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Benfica will aim to secure his services next year.

Will Silva return to Benfica soon?

Joao Noronha has already suggested that he will push for a move for Bernardo Silva next year if he becomes the next SL Benfica president. The Primeira Liga club’s interest in the Manchester City playmaker is understandable, considering Angel Di Maria has left a gaping hole in the offensive unit since joining Rosario Central.

Several candidates have thus emerged on Benfica’s radar, with Silva also a viable target. Jose Mourinho is the driving force behind the Primeira Liga club’s possible move for the veteran Manchester City playmaker.

With Silva entering the final 12 months of his contract with Manchester City, a bargain move may be on the cards. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 31-year-old Portuguese international.
