Jobe Bellingham could leave Borussia Dortmund in January amid Manchester United links
Manchester United have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund midfield sensation Jobe Bellingham.
Jobe Bellingham’s move to Borussia Dortmund hasn’t really gone according to plan, and the English youth international is already considering parting ways with the club in the upcoming winter transfer window.
According to a report from Football Insider, Manchester United are keen on signing Bellingham, and his desire to move is a massive boost for them. The Red Devils want to revamp their midfield, and the 20-year-old could prove to be a valuable addition both for the short and the long run.
Bellingham made a name for himself at Sunderland, and on the back of his impressive rise, Dortmund forked out an initial £27.8 million to sign him in the last summer window. Things haven’t been that great for the English youth international since moving to Germany, as he has only started two league games.
He made a big error, costing them the game against Bayern Munich. While he did bounce back with two assists against Copenhagen in the Champions League, the 20-year-old isn’t pleased with the limited game time he has had under Niko Kovac.
On top of that, his relationship with the club is still tense, after his father Mark confronted the Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl when his son was subbed off at half-time on his debut back in August. While his father has been banned from all dressing room areas, the incident has hampered the relationship between the two parties.
Bellingham to return to England?
With him struggling for minutes, his future has also become an interesting talking point. The report suggests Bellingham could return to England on a temporary basis in January. Dortmund could actually let him leave on loan.
With Bellingham likely to be available, Manchester United have emerged as a potential destination. The Red Devils are keen on adding more quality to their midfield, and they are long-term admirers of the 20-year-old.
Since his long-term future is still up in the air, the Red Devils see this as a great opportunity to snap up a top talent. While there are other top clubs interested in his services, United could look to push hard to beat the competition.
With him likely to push for an exit, Amorim’s team certainly have a big chance of securing his services mid-season.
