Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach Eugen Polanski on Bayern Munich: “Bayern don’t do anything special. But what they do, they do really well.”
At the pre-match conference (via kicker) ahead of Borussia Mönchengladbach versus Bayern Munich, head coach Eugen Polanski commented on the league leaders
The game between the two on Saturday sees the first-placed team in the league play the last-placed team. Heading into the match, Bayern have a 100% record in the league, while Gladbach are yet to win a game in this Bundesliga season, and their winless run extends to 14 games.
On the current league leaders, Polanski said:
“The task isn’t easy, because we know what Bayern are capable of…Bayern don’t do anything special. But what they do, they do really well.”
Adding:
“You have to be good in one-on-ones, you have to be aggressive, you have to break their rhythm sometimes… These are fundamental qualities in every game; against Bayern, they’re perhaps a few percent more important than against other opponents. But you always need them to win games.”
Gladbach’s history with Bayern:
Historically, Gladbach had been Bayern’s bogey team, and no matter their form, they seemed like the only Bundesliga side who could get one over the Rekordmeister. However, in recent years, with die Fohlen’s decline, this has become less relevant.
Gladbach have lost their last four games against Bayern, all coached by Gerardo Seoane, with their last win coming in February 2023 when they beat the Bavarians 3-2 at Borussia Park under Daniel Farke.
