Liverpool unwilling to cash in on Mohamed Salah amid poor form
Liverpool are willing to keep faith in Mohamed Salah to come good after a difficult start to the season, and they are unwilling to cash in on their talisman in January.
According to Football Insider, Mohamed Salah will not be sold ahead of the winter transfer window after a horrid start to the season. Liverpool retain their faith in the talismanic attacker after a difficult period and believe he will come good, which has ruled out an exit ahead of the winter window.
Liverpool are in danger of becoming irrelevant in the Premier League title race after a third loss in a row, and that could be extended to the Champions League if their slump continues. On the continental front, the Reds lost to Galatasaray, which has already dented their chances of finishing in the top eight.
Following a summer of massive spending that saw Liverpool break the British transfer record twice with the signings of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, respectively, those stars have been underwhelming. While the duo are the players in focus, there is also some criticism of Mohamed Salah.
After a title-winning campaign in which the Egyptian scored or assisted 47 times in the Premier League, Salah has only four this season. Following his £34 million move from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has been Liverpool’s best player for all these years, and the club has faith in their talismanic attacker to come good as the season progresses.
Hence, Liverpool are not willing to cash in on the £34 million talisman ahead of the January window, although that does not bring a decision for next summer. There have been rumours that Salah could potentially leave the club after the season ends, with Saudi Arabian sides still on his case.
Will Mohamed Salah come good?
Liverpool made a concerted decision to hand Salah a lucrative two-year deal at the end of last season when he was in the final months of his previous agreement. However, the Premier League champions are already planning for the future without their talisman, as the likes of Malick Fofana are being earmarked as a replacement option.
Michael Olise has also been considered to replace Mohamed Salah, but for now, Liverpool will want him to come good with his form this season. The four losses in a row have the club rattled from top to bottom, and the Egyptian will be key to their revival. Given his experience and past form, Salah is widely expected to regain his best form in the coming weeks and start firing for Liverpool.
