Roy Keane suggests Kobbie Mainoo to seek new club

Manchester United legend Roy Keane believes that Kobbie Mainoo might need to leave the club soon after Ruben Amorim snubbed him against Liverpool.

In a conversation on Sky Sports, Roy Keane suggested that Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo needs to look for new avenues if he wants to play regularly. The talented Englishman was overlooked from the starting lineup again against Liverpool, and he needs more opportunities to develop at this stage of his career.

Keane said, “It obviously seems to be a problem for Mainoo getting into this team. The word coming out is they don’t think he can cover the ground that quickly, but if you look at Man Utd’s other midfielders they’ve got, they’re not great at that either.

“As a young player, he has to suck that up and work hard, and when he gets a chance, he has to take it. A young player with good potential cannot be guaranteed a place in United’s team. But it will come down to the player himself. Your job every day every week is to make sure the manager puts you in the team.

“If the manager deep down doesn’t fancy him? I don’t know. We will find that out in the next few weeks. Because if he doesn’t fancy him, he might have to move him on. But Mainoo’s got that opportunity. He got some plaudits when he first came in, he was involved in the England squad. He has to get back to that.

“He’s had opportunities recently and when he’s come on and got opportunities, he just looks a bit short for me. I wouldn’t be scratching my head thinking: why is he not in the team? I can see why he is not picking him at this moment in time.”

Mainoo needs game time

Sitting on the bench at Manchester United will not help Mainoo. He was regarded as a special young talent when he broke through to the first-team scene at Manchester United. However, the young Englishman has not been able to convince Rúben Amorim to give him regular opportunities.

There is no doubt that the 20-year-old is a talented player with a bright future, and he could be a star for Manchester United under the right manager. If the Portuguese manager continues at Old Trafford, it would be ideal for him to leave the club.

The English international has been linked with multiple clubs over the last few weeks, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Mainoo is a tremendous talent, and there will be no shortage of clubs hoping to sign him.

Manchester United might end up regretting the decision to let him move on. The youngster has the potential to develop into a key player for the club, but Amorim does not seem to fancy the young midfielder.

Mainoo will look to get his career back on track with regular football, and he will look to fulfil his potential as well. A move away from Old Trafford would be ideal. It will be interesting to see if any club is willing to provide him with an exit route during the January transfer window.
