Manchester United prioritise move for Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson over Carlos Baleba

Manchester United could lean towards Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson over Carlos Baleba after a recent development in the chase.

According to Team Talk, Manchester United could cool their interest in Carlos Baleba to focus their efforts on Premier League duo Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton. The Red Devils were heavily interested in the Brighton star for a long time, but things may have changed in the background with regard to the 21-year-old midfielder.

Carlos Baleba was a big target for Manchester United back in the summer, when Ruben Amorim chased the 21-year-old midfielder for a few weeks. Brighton made it abundantly clear that they do not intend to sell the midfielder.

Even if they had any intentions to sell, a price tag of £100 million or more had been mooted, which effectively pushed Manchester United to halt the chase. Baleba’s head had been turned by the Red Devils and their interest in signing him, but that may have had another effect in the background.

Manchester United have problems in their midfield and had earmarked Baleba and Adam Wharton as top priorities in the future windows. However, both midfielders carry nine-figure price tags, which may make it difficult for the Red Devils to sign them in one window.

However, there are now significant doubts over Baleba, after a bad start to the season with Brighton. The 21-year-old midfielder has not completed a full ninety in a single game so far this season, as Manchester United are now thinking about cooling their interest in him.

Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson have moved up the list

Manchester United could now pursue deals for Wharton and Elliot Anderson as alternatives to Baleba in the next window. They have been interested in Wharton for some time, but like Baleba and Brighton, Crystal Palace also held a strong stance in the background with regard to losing one of the top midfielders in the league at the current moment.

Anderson is also a player of interest, and as is the case with many other clubs, with the Nottingham Forest star is also proving his worth as one of the most promising midfielders in the league. Manchester United could plot a move for the Premier League duo in the future windows.
