Enzo Maresca set for Chelsea stay despite exit links
Enzo Maresca is unlikely to leave Chelsea anytime soon despite being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca has done wonders at Chelsea since taking charge in the summer of 2024. In his first season in charge, he helped the club secure a top-four finish and guided them to the Conference League and Club World Cup titles.
Despite all the success that he had last season, the 45-year-old Italian manager has been linked with a move away. However, according to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Maresca is unlikely to leave Chelsea. The London club are pleased with the work he has done so far, and he is also quite content at Stamford Bridge.
While speaking on the Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke said: “He’s fully focused on Chelsea right now.
“His focus is continuing to build on the success he had last season where got Chelsea back into the top four, into the Champions League, they won the Conference League, then they won the Club World Cup in the summer.
“This season, all focus will be seeing if he can improve on that and try and make Chelsea title contenders if possible.
“Chelsea are happy with Maresca, Maresca is happy at Chelsea. He’s under contract until 2029.
“He’s building a very talented young team there at Chelsea as well, so, I don’t think he’d be rushing out the door right now, but we know what management’s like.
“Things can quickly change if results go wrong.”
Maresca is linked with a move away
The former Manchester City assistant had a sensational season-long spell at Leicester City. He guided the Foxes back to the Premier League, and on the back of his work, Chelsea handed him the managerial role in the summer of 2024.
They handed the Italian a young, talented squad, and he has certainly made the most out of it. The 45-year-old has helped re-establish the London club as one of the giants in England. Having won multiple titles with them last season, Maresca will now be keen on building on it.
While his contract at Chelsea runs until 2029, the former Pep Guardiola assistant has still been linked with a move away. Juventus seem interested in his services as they consider a managerial change. The Italian club are keen on bringing their former player back.
However, they are unlikely to succeed as the Blues do not want to lose out on Maresca. More importantly, the former Leicester boss is happy at Stamford Bridge, and he is not going to be entertaining any approaches from the Old Lady in the near future.
Given the amount of work he has put in at Chelsea over the last 15 odd months, it won’t make sense for him to push for a move away.
