Bayern Munich, Chelsea face Real Madrid battle in Murillo chase

Real Madrid have reportedly entered the race for Murillo, with a host of other top teams chasing the Nottingham Forest defender.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are big admirers of Nottingham Forest star Murillo. The Spanish giants are set to add players to their defensive setup in the future windows, with the Brazilian defender one of those under consideration, but face fierce rivalry from teams like Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Murillo was a player of unknown quantity when he first arrived at Nottingham Forest two years ago. Since then, he has developed into one of the top centre-backs in England and helped Forest achieve European football with his stellar performances last season.

With Nottingham Forest not doing well in the Premier League this season, and even though Murillo signed a new deal at the club recently, there’s every chance for him to go somewhere else. Chelsea are interested in signing him in January, with the club lacking at the back following the season-ending ACL injury to Levi Colwill.

Bayern Munich are also interested, and there are some changes planned to their defensive line next summer, with the futures of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae in considerable doubt. Murillo could be a good enough option to replace either of those centre-backs, with Nottingham Forest reportedly demanding at least €60 million to sell the Brazilian.

With age on his side, Murillo could be a long-term option for either of those continental giants. However, there is a new twist in the tale as Real Madrid are the latest to enter the race for the Brazilian, as they too are angling moves for key defensive targets in future windows.

Real Madrid are interested in Murillo

Real Madrid are now known to pay big sums for defensive targets, which might be something that could hinder any move for the €60 million-rated South American. They are linked with Ibrahima Konate as well as Marc Guehi, with both those Premier League defenders likely to be available next summer on free transfers.

However, Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Murillo as a big option for the future, although any move will depend on their ability to pay for the €60 million-rated defender. As things stand, Nottingham Forest are not in the best of places to keep hold of their players, particularly if their downward spiral continues as the season progresses, which will open the gates for players like the Brazilian to depart.
