Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has named a pair of Barcelona stars on his list of the five best midfielders in world football at present.

And the pair in question should come as little surprise…

Barcelona’s midfield, and entire XI at large, is controlled for the most part by two players: Pedri, and Frenkie de Jong.

The duo are absolutely crucial to how Hansi Flick’s side play, controlling everything from tempo to system, buildup and beyond.

This comes by way of brilliance not only in possession, but out of it, too.

And as alluded to above, one ex-midfielder on whom such excellence is not at all lost, is the aforementioned Paul Scholes.

Speaking during an interview with 500Casino this week, former England and Man United standout Scholes was asked to name his five best midfielders in world football at this moment in time.
