Juventus ready to offer Teun Koopmeiners in deal to sign Sandro Tonali, but he wants AC Milan return
Juventus are prepared to offer Teun Koopmeiners plus cash for Sandro Tonali in January, with the Newcastle United midfielder keen to make a return to AC Milan.
According to Juve-Live, Sandro Tonali is a key target for Juventus ahead of the January window, with an approach likely on the cards. The Bianconeri are ready to offer Tuen Koopmeiners plus €50 million in cash to test Newcastle United’s resolve, although the midfielder reportedly dreams of returning to his former side, AC Milan.
Juventus are not entirely satisfied with their squad options, particularly in the midfield zones. The future of Teun Koopmeiners has been discussed heavily of late, with suggestions that the Dutchman is steadily phasing out of their long-term planning following his inability to settle since making the move from Atalanta in the summer of 2024.
Koopmeiners may be sacrificed in the near future, as Juventus are looking at different names to replace the Dutchman. Kobbie Mainoo was mentioned as an option ahead of January, and now, the name of Sandro Tonali has re-emerged on their shortlist.
Juventus considers Tonali as a priority target, and could make an approach to test Newcastle United’s resolve. The Magpies consider the Italian a key part of their plans moving forward, and may not entertain the prospects of a sale unless there’s a big offer on the table.
Juventus are reportedly ready to offer Koopmeiners plus €50 million in cash for the midfielder, who cost the Magpies €59 million a few years ago. Tonali has developed a reputation for being one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, which has seen his valuation rise to around €80 million. By that logic, the offer from the Bianconeri might suffice, although it might be Newcastle United who makes the final call.
Sandro Tonali wants AC Milan return
Tonali is reportedly open to returning to Italy at some point in his career, and should he do that, AC Milan would be his preferred destination, as per Gianluca Di Marzio via Milan-Live. The midfielder’s choice would come as a blow to Juventus, who have him at the top of their shortlist.
Newcastle United are not planning on selling Tonali, and instead remains keen to extend his stay at St James Park. At the moment, the midfielder is settled in England after a turbulent start to life here, as the Magpies do not want to break their squad structure with the sale of a key star, particularly in the January window.
