Claus Costa rules out Tottenham recalling Luka Vuskovic from Hamburg loan in January

Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic is currently on loan at Bundesliga club Hamburger SV, and Claus Costa has commented on his future.

Luka Vuskovic has been linked with a return to Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the winter transfer window. However, in an interview with Transfermarkt, Claus Costa has confirmed that the North London club have no interest in recalling the 18-year-old defender from his loan spell in January. That will come as a major boost for the newly promoted Bundesliga club.

Vuskovic is a talented young player, and he is an important member of the team for them. They will not want to lose him midway through the season. However, recent reports have suggested that Tottenham may call him back from his loan spell, which Claus Costa has denied.

Costa said, “We had very constructive discussions with Tottenham. They’re a top-notch professional club, judging by the communication with loan manager Andy Scoulding . They’re closely monitoring the player, which shows how they assess Luka.”

“Tottenham isn’t interested in weakening us or ruining the loan. It’s understandable that they’re trying to protect themselves against possible worst-case scenarios. Otherwise, I don’t want to comment further. I think Tottenham also knows how good the situation here is for Luka. That’s why I hope we don’t even get into a position to consider anything else.”

Meanwhile, bringing Luka Vuskovic back to the club in January does not make any sense for Tottenham either. Thomas Frank will not be able to provide him with regular opportunities, and sitting on the bench at the North London club will not benefit him.

The 18-year-old is highly rated at the club, and he has a bright future ahead of himself. The youngster needs to play regularly to continue his development. Staying at the Bundesliga club until the end of the season would be ideal for all parties.

Vuskovic is a talented player

Luka Vuskovic impressed with Tottenham during pre-season, and there is no doubt that he has a big future at the club. He will look to establish himself as a key player for Tottenham in the future. For that, he needs to continue his development and gain some valuable first-team experience.

There is no doubt that the 18-year-old is a tremendous talent, but he is not ready for the Premier League yet. The loan move to Germany could prove to be invaluable for him. He will look to improve over the next few months and return as a better player. It will be interesting to see if he can force his way into Thomas Frank’s first-team plans next season.

Tottenham could certainly use more quality and depth in the defensive unit, and the 18-year-old would be a very useful option for them. The young Croat has the attributes to develop into a top-class player, and he will look to fulfil his potential with the North London outfit.
