Real Madrid contact Erling Haaland for big-money move

Real Madrid are ready to pay significantly to sign Erling Haaland, with the Manchester City star viewed as a replacement for Vinicius Junior.

According to Caught Offside, Real Madrid will be ready to pay big to secure Erling Haaland’s signature. Florentino Perez reportedly views the Norwegian as the big-name replacement for Vinicius Junior next summer, although Manchester City’s stance on Haaland will be key to any deal.

Vinicius Junior’s future at Real Madrid has been called into doubt following some recent reports that stated the Brazilian superstar may not sign a new deal. The Spanish giants might end up selling the winger, probably to Saudi Arabia, as the Middle Eastern clubs are the best placed to pay big at the moment.

The report claims, Real Madrid might sell Vinicius for a fee in excess of €250 million, and have already identified a replacement for the Brazilian. Erling Haaland is the man Florentino Perez wants in the team once Vinicius departs.

Haaland, who signed a deal until 2034 earlier in the year, is seen as a long-term option by Manchester City. The Premier League giants are not interested in a sale despite emerging interest from Spanish sides, including Barcelona.

The report claims, should the Vinicius sale go through next year, Real Madrid will be ready to pay big to sign Haaland. The Norwegian, one of the best players in the world, will then be seen as a big addition to the squad, which might then result in Kylian Mbappe operating from the left wing.

Will Manchester City sell Erling Haaland?

Real Madrid had also pondered a Vinicius-Haaland swap of sorts, although those reports were only rumours, as Manchester City had no intention of parting ways with the Norwegian. They might stick to their stance, especially given that the 25-year-old will now enter his key years as a professional.

Manchester City usually does not stand in any player’s way if they seek to change clubs, although their stance on Haaland might be different. They have invested rather heavily in the 25-year-old and will want him at least for a few more years, which could result in the club keeping hold of the striker ahead of next summer.
