Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United vying for Taras Mykhavko
Dynamo Kyiv defender Taras Mykhavko is garnering interest from multiple Premier League sides ahead of the January transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all vying for Dynamo Kyiv defender Taras Mykhavko. The 20-year-old Ukrainian defensive sensation has been rising in his stature, which is why a host of top Premier League teams are angling for a move in the winter window.
Taras Mykhavko is one of the prominent defensive talents emerging out of Ukraine. Having truly broken through into the Dynamo Kyiv first team last season, the 20-year-old defensive sensation is now considered a key starter for the team, particularly after his performances in he previous campaign that clinched the league title.
While Dynamo Kyiv would like to utilise his talents for a few more years, Mykhavko’s time there could be short-lived, given the big interest emerging from England. The Premier League has seen many Ukrainian talents thriving here, including Illia Zabarnyi, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Vitaliy Mykolenko, among others, as Mykhavko could be the next to arrive here.
Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are the ones vying for the 20-year-old Ukrainian defensive sensation ahead of the January window, as each of those clubs are looking to strengthen their defence. While Mykhavko may not be seen as the absolute first choice starter for either of those clubs, there’s the element of building for the immediate future.
Mykhavko predominantly features on the left side of central defence, which is an area Chelsea are looking to strengthen in. The Blues lost Levi Colwill at the start of the season to a long-term injury, and with their defensive depth laid bare in recent weeks, it’s only obvious that they will sign a new player there. Whether the youngster is the right choice remains to be seen, but he does fit into their model.
Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in Taras Mykhavko
Manchester United are looking at players that could help them in the long term, and Mykhavko could be a potential option in that regard. They are in talks with Harry Maguire over a contract extension, while there are doubts over Lisandro Martinez’s long-term future owing to persistent fitness issues. Hence, the 20-year-old Ukrainian defensive sensation would make sense as a future investment.
Liverpool are also in the market for a new defender, with Marc Guehi considered their main target. The Crystal Palace star does not feel obliged to join them, as Liverpool could theoretically look for another younger option as they did in the summer with the signing of Giovanni Leoni, as they want to build a strong backline for the future, with Mykhavko could be a talent they could pursue.
