Manchester United set to sell Bruno Fernandes for £100 million next summer
Manchester United have been rumoured to have agreed to sell Bruno Fernandes to the Saudi Pro League, with two replacements already identified.
Indykaila News reports that Manchester United have pre-agreed a deal in the region of £100 million to sell Bruno Fernandes to the Saudi Pro League next season. The Portuguese star did not want to move to the Middle East this summer, as the Red Devils could use the cash from the sale to sign two replacements from the Premier League.
Bruno Fernandes’ immediate future was a big topic of discussion during the early parts of the transfer window. Back then, Al-Hilal, who were participating in the Club World Cup, were prepared to pay big for the Manchester United skipper, but the Portuguese star chose to stay put at Old Trafford.
The reasons for doing so were linked with the current season being a World Cup year, as Fernandes wanted to keep competing at the highest levels. Manchester United did not force the issue through despite the money on offer, as they were tempted again in the latter stages of the summer window. Reports were stating a winter approach could be on the cards, although Fernandes is set to stick to his previous stance.
However, next summer could be decisive for Fernandes, with Indykaila News now reporting that Manchester United have already pre-agreed a sale in the region of £100 million. The Saudi Pro League is rumoured to be the destination for the club skipper, with the Middle Eastern sides still very much interested.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr also held an interest alongside Al-Hilal, meaning Fermandes could have his choice of top clubs from the Saudi Pro League. The report also states that Manchester United will use the funds from his sale to sign two replacements in the form of Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba.
Manchester United line up Bruno Fernandes replacements
After a summer of spending on their attack, Manchester United could focus on bolstering their midfield ranks, particularly as they could offload Casemiro and, now, as per the report, Fernandes. The two replacements are key summer target, Baleba and then Anderson from Brighton and Nottingham Forest, respectively.
Anderson emerged as a target following an impressive start to the new campaign, while Baleba was someone they chased in the summer. The idea of bringing them both could be appealing if Manchester United can offload Fernandes to Saudi Arabia as well as Casemiro, although both deals could be challenging owing to the intense competition for those midfield targets.
