Manchester City unwilling to sell Rodri amid Real Madrid links
Manchester City will not entertain any bids to part ways with 29-year-old Spanish international Rodri amid his links with Real Madrid.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Rodri is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a progressive midfielder in the next two transfer windows. So, the 29-year-old Manchester City mainstay has emerged as a target for Los Blancos.
Recent reports have claimed that the Merengues are ready to launch an offensive to secure the Spaniard’s services in a big-money move. However, Manchester City will not entertain bids to part ways with the former Ballon d’Or winner anytime soon.
Rodri and skyrocketing stock
Rodri has established himself as one of the best players in the world since joining Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth £62.8 million in July 2019. The 29-year-old has made significant progress in the last half a dozen years, having been a mainstay in the middle of the park for his club and country. Additionally, the player reached the pinnacle of his career by winning the Ballon d’Or in 2024.
The Spanish international has made over 250 appearances thus far for Manchester City while chipping in with 26 goals and 32 assists. Meanwhile, the experienced midfielder’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several European bigwigs. Real Madrid will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.
La Liga return beckoning?
Rodri has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. The continued interest in the Manchester City midfield mainstay makes sense, as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have left a gaping hole in the midfield unit at the Santiago Bernabeu. While Xabi Alonso has players who can essay multiple roles, his team lacks progression from the middle of the park.
The Manchester City midfielder has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, with Los Blancos reportedly ready to break the bank to secure his services in the summer transfer window. However, convincing the Premier League giants to part ways with the Spaniard will be a tall order, as the Premier League giants are unwilling to cash in on the 29-year-old Spaniard.
Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that Manchester City will aim to secure an agreement with the Spanish midfielder over a new contract. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Rodri.
