Kieran Trippier open to signing a new deal with Newcastle United

Kieran Trippier could be open to continuing his career at Newcastle United despite coming close to leaving in the recent past.

According to Football Insider, Kieran Trippier could be open to staying at Newcastle United and even signing a new deal. The defender came close on multiple occasions to leaving the Magpies, but the two parties appear content with life and could push for a continuation.

Kieran Trippier has been one of the key signings in the new Saudi-led era at Newcastle United. The Newcastle United veteran arrived at the club at a time when they needed his experience, as there was barely any hesitation from the player while he was at Atletico Madrid.

The move has been highly successful so far, given Trippoer was instrumental in the club’s rise to a Champions League side, as well as ending a high-profile trophy drought. However, his situation at St James Park has not been clear over the last period, as he came close to leaving on multiple occasions.

The heavy interest from Bayern Munich in recent times springs to mind, which showed Trippier was ready to test himself elsewhere. The Bavarians never reignited their pursuit of the Newcastle United veteran; however, Monaco were interested back in the summer.

With the defender’s deal expiring at the end of the current season, there was a big possibility of a sale ahead of the January window. However, that may not be the case, as the likelihood of him leaving next summer would be high, given the level of importance he brings to the table.

Kieran Trippier is ready to stay

In what may be described as a U-turn of sorts, Trippier is now ready to continue his time at Newcastle United and even sign a new deal. The report states that both parties are ready to shrug off their differences from the past to eye a new beginning, which may result in the veteran defender landing a new contract at the club.

It remains to be seen whether that materialises, although Trippier, despite his advancing age, has shown no signs of slowing down and remains actively competent for a place in the starting lineup. There are positives to take from keeping the defender at this stage of his career than selling him from a Newcastle United perspective.
