Eintracht Frankfurt ponder winter loan move for William Osula

Eintracht Frankfurt are still in the mix for William Osula as they plot a winter loan move for the Newcastle United striker.

According to Sky Sports, William Osula is still on the radar of Eintracht Frankfurt following a failed move in the latter stages of the summer window. The Bundesliga outfit are now plotting a loan move for the striker, who may end up struggling for regular minutes at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle United ramped up their efforts in the latter stages of the window to make some decisive transfer decisions. The Magpies were embroiled in the Alexander Isak saga for most of the summer, while facing numerous rejections from some of their top striker targets to replace the Swede.

Nick Woltemade was signed a few days before the deadline day, and then, following Isak’s late sale to Liverpool, the Magpies brought in Yoane Wissa. Overall, Newcastle United managed to sign the desired players, who are replacements for Isak and Callum Wilson.

Those arrivals left William Osula’s immediate future in significant doubt, and the striker was expected to leave during the summer, even before those two strikers arrived. Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly made their move during the summer, but ultimately failed to get it over the line.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Newcastle United were in talks over a permanent deal in the region of £30 million, which would have been good business given Osula only arrived last summer in a £15 million deal from Sheffield United. However, the striker stayed put despite the raft of late arrivals, and have since scored two goals in his nine appearances for the Magpies so far this season.

Eintracht Frankfurt to sign William Osula on loan?

Eintracht Frankfurt were planning on a winter approach for Osula, and it appears the Bundesliga giants are eager to sign the £15 million attacker on loan. It remains to be seen whether this is the route Newcastle United want to take with the future of the striker, as they might consider a permanent sale of the Dane.

However, a loan move may not be the worst decision at this stage, as there is a big possibility they could accept such a deal. There is the possibility of a buy option or obligation included in the deal, which will get clearer as the winter transfer window approaches. For William Osula, a move away will prove beneficial, as his minutes will dry up when Wissa returns from his injury.
