Leeds United eyeing bargain move for Piotr Zielinski

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 31-year-old Polish international Piotr Zielinski in a bargain move from Serie A club Inter Milan next year.

According to a report by Italian outlet Inter Live, Piotr Zielinski is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder next year. So, the 31-year-old Inter Milan midfielder has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.

The Pole may be available for a bargain move in the next two transfer windows, as he wants Inter Milan to terminate his €4.5 million-a-year contract after falling in the pecking order under Cristian Chivu. Zielinski is keen on embarking on a new adventure as early as the winter transfer window. Letting the experienced midfielder leave for free will enable the Nerazzurri to save €21 million.

Piotr Zielinski and his frustrations

Piotr Zielinski has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Inter Milan in a Bosman move last year after leaving Napoli as a free agent. The 31-year-old seemed to be an excellent signing for the Nerazzurri due to his extensive experience in Serie A after representing Udinese, Empoli, and Napoli. However, he has struggled to become a regular at San Siro.

The struggles have grown in the early days of the 2025/26 season, as Zielinski has managed only 121 minutes of game time across five appearances thus far. However, the Polish midfielder’s situation at Inter Milan has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing him, with Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Leeds United’s interest in Piotr Zielinski makes sense. While the Whites considerably bolstered their midfield unit by signing Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff in the summer transfer window, Daniel Farke wants an attacking midfielder who can link the midfield with the attack.

So, Zielinski has emerged as a viable target, with Leeds United receiving hopes of a bargain move after the latest update. The 31-year-old Pole, who wants Inter Milan to terminate his €4.5 million-a-year contract, may only be a solid short-term solution for Leeds United in the middle of the park, but signing him for free will make him an appealing option for the West Yorkshire outfit.

However, Zielinski is not the only attacking midfielder on Leeds United’s wishlist, as recent reports have also linked the newly promoted Premier League club with Lorenzo Pellegrini. So, it will be interesting to see who bolsters Leeds United’s midfield unit in the coming weeks.
