Thomas Frank wants Tottenham to sign Nathan Collins in January

Thomas Frank reportedly wants Tottenham Hotspur to sign 24-year-old Irish defender Nathan Collins from fellow Premier League club Brentford next year.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Nathan Collins is the subject of interest of Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are eager to bolster their defensive unit by signing a centre-back next year. So, the 24-year-old Brentford captain has emerged as a target for the North London club.

The report has revealed that Thomas Frank is the driving force behind Tottenham’s move for the Irishman. However, the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners face stiff competition from “several clubs from around Europe” that are monitoring Collins and his progress at Brentford.

Nathan Collins and his time at Brentford

Nathan Collins has established himself as one of the most underrated defenders in the Premier League since joining Brentford from Wolverhampton Wanderers in July 2023. The 24-year-old has made significant progress in the last two years, and his performances at the heart of the defence have helped him become the club captain at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Collins has made nearly 100 appearances thus far for the Bees while chipping in with four goals and six assists. Meanwhile, the Irish defender’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs. Tottenham Hotspur will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.

Move across London on the horizon?

Nathan Collins has been on Tottenham Hotspur’s since the summer transfer window, but the deal did not materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as the Lilywhites are concerned about the long-term futures of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven amid their relentless links with La Liga bigwigs.

Additionally, Radu Dragusin’s has struggled to establish himself as a first-choice starter for Tottenham in the last two years. So, Collins remains a target for the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners. Thomas Frank is the driving force behind Tottenham’s move for the Irishman after the North London outfit failed to sign Piero Hincapie, who joined Arsenal instead.

Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that Brentford will not entertain any bids to part ways with Collins in the winter transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can tempt the West London outfit to cash in on the 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international in the coming weeks.
