Inter Milan ready to seal permanent deal for Manuel Akanji

Inter Milan are making plans to seal a permanent move for Manchester City misfit Manuel Akanji after an impressive start to life in Italy.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan are ready to seal a permanent deal for Manuel Akanji and could open talks with Manchester City. The defender has had a terrific start to life at the San Siro following his loan switch, with the Nerazzuri ready to pay €15 million to get a permanent deal in place.

Inter Milan plays peculiarly with a system that has no wingers and uses three physical centre-backs. The Nerazzuri made a few changes to their backline, which saw Manuel Akanji join on loan while Benjamin Pavard left to join Marseille.

While those changes do not seem many, they were seen as significant, especially given how much experience and winning mentality Akanji brings to the table. Since finalising his loan move to Inter Milan, the Swiss international has played four full games for the Nerazzuri so far, with the defender already seen as a strong starter at the club.

Inter Milan were not the only club interested in signing Akanji, with Tottenham one of those keen late on in the window. Before that, Akanji rejected a move to Galatasaray, who were embroiled in a saga for the Manchester City misfit.

As he joined Inter Milan, it showed that Akanji wanted to continue at the top level, and Inter Milan are seen as someone to compete on all fronts this season. Those in charge at the Italian giants are convinced about signing the Swiss star on a permanent deal, as talks could commence to take further steps.

Inter Milan keen to sign Manuel Akanji permanently

Inter Milan have planned to pay €15 million to seal a permanent move for Akanji in the coming period. They could potentially wait until the end of the season to open talks, but they are eager to secure his long-term future at the San Siro.

Akanji has no future at Manchester City, where Pep Guardiola seemingly felt the Swiss defender had no future at the club. Hence, Inter Milan have a big chance to get the €15 million-rated Manchester City misfit permanently, and the price point seems extremely reasonable for a player of Akanji’s quality and experience.
