Al-Ahli, Al-Qadsiah eyeing Bernardo Silva swoop
Al-Ahli and Al-Qadsiah are interested in signing the Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, as per Fichajes.
The £43 million Portuguese international has been linked with a move away from the Premier League club in recent months and it will be interesting to see if he moves to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season.
Silva has been a key player for Manchester City since joining the club and he has helped them win major trophies. Although the Premier League side will not want to lose a player of his quality, they are unlikely to stand in his way if he wants to move on in the summer. The player is entering the twilight stages of his career and this could be the right time for Manchester City to let go of the player.
The move to Saudi Arabia could be ideal for Silva at this stage of his career. It would be a new challenge for him, and the lower intensity of the Saudi Pro League could prolong his career.
Meanwhile, Manchester City will need to replace him properly. He has been a key performer for them over the years. The Premier League giants lost Kevin De Bruyne this summer and that has weakened them in the creative department. Losing Silva will only worsen the situation. They need to bring in a versatile player like him in the summer.
Silva is capable of operating in several midfield roles and he has been the ideal utility man for Manchester City. Replacing him will not be easy. He has slotted into multiple roles for the side and performed at a very high level.
Apart from his quality, he is one of the leaders of the dressing room as well.
Meanwhile, signing a player of his quality would be huge for the Saudi outfits. It would attract greater global appeal towards the league.
As for Silva, he is likely to earn a substantial amount of money if he moves to Saudi Arabia in the summer. At this stage of his career, that could be tempting for him.
