Tottenham could recall Mikey Moore in January

Tottenham are pondering recalling Mikey Moore from his underwhelming loan spell at Rangers and making a fresh decision on his immediate future.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are considering recalling Mikey Moore from his underwhelming loan spell at Rangers. The highly-rated wonderkid has struggled for relevance under Russell Martin at Ibrox, with the player unhappy with the way he has been used, as Spurs could exercise their recall option in the loan deal.

Mikey Moore is considered one of the highly-rated prospects to come out of Tottenham’s academy in recent years. The teenager got his chance to feature prominently in the first team last season, as he played 19 times across all competitions under former boss Ange Postecoglou.

While it was clear that the forward would struggle to get regular minutes after how Spurs planned their summer window, they chose to send him out on loan. Despite the interest coming from many teams, including some from the Champions League and others from abroad.

Rangers won the race for Moore despite the highly-rated wonderkid having other approaches. For instance, Birmingham City were keen, while Borussia Dortmund were linked at one stage, but from a Spurs perspective, they might have felt the spell at Rangers would aid his development better.

However, things have not gone to plan over at Ibrox, as Russell Martin’s tactics have not aided his development at all. The manager’s insistence on playing the highly-rated wonderkid in a specific way has left Moore unhappy, as he could ask Spurs to make some changes to his immediate future.

Tottenham contemplate recalling Mikey Moore

Tottenham have a recall option in Moore’s loan deal at Rangers, and could exercise it during the January window. While Spurs are yet to decide on the forward’s future at Ibrox, they could begin searching for another suitor to send him on loan from January until the end of the season.

Alternatively, Martin could be sacked by Rangers following a disastrous start to their season, as they languish near the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table. Hence, any changes to Moore’s immediate future at Ibrox could be detrimental to how the potential new boss could think about using him.
