Julian Alvarez agent refutes Liverpool summer links with player
Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez during the summer transfer window.
Julian Alvarez has established himself as a key player for the Spanish club since joining them. The 18-goal Argentina international has been exceptional with his goalscoring and creative output. It is no surprise that he is being linked with top teams.
Alvarez scored 29 goals last season and picked up eight assists. However, his agent has confirmed that Atletico Madrid were not willing to negotiate his departure and that the player is committed to the Spanish club as well. It seems that the links with Liverpool were just rumours.
He said via , “There were no official offers from Liverpool to sign Julián last season, and everything that’s been said about it is false. Last summer there were no offers either because Atlético Madrid didn’t want to sell the player, so negotiations didn’t take place.”
Liverpool moved for other strikers
The Premier League champions ended up signing Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, with Ekitike doing quite well in the Premier League so far. It will be interesting to see if he can build on their impressive start to the season and establish himself as a key player for the club.
On the other hand, Liverpool are still building up the match fitness levels for Isak before they can unleash him fully in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if Alvarez can continue to shine at Atletico Madrid and help them win major trophies.
There is no doubt that he is one of the best attacking players in the world right now. The Argentine international was exceptional during his time at Manchester City, and he has taken his game to a whole new level at the Spanish club. He has been a prolific goalscorer for Atletico Madrid, and he has helped them creatively as well.
Recently, there were rumours that the player could look to leave the Spanish club, as he has not been able to adapt to Diego Simeone’s style of football. However, the statistics tell a different story, and he is undoubtedly an indispensable asset for the club. Atletico Madrid will need players like him if they want to win major trophies. Keeping the 25-year-old World Cup winner at the club for the long term should be a top priority for them.
