Sevilla, Real Sociedad eyeing Sergio Reguilon swoop
La Liga sides Sevilla and Real Sociedad are eyeing a Bosman move for former Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon in the coming days.
According to Fichajes, Sergio Reguilon could yet revive his career with a Bosman move to one of the two Spanish sides still showing an interest. Sevilla and Real Sociedad are linked with the 28-year-old, who left Tottenham after his contract expired; those two teams could see value in signing the forgotten Spaniard.
Sergio Reguilon was on a career high after helping Sevilla win the UEFA Europa League in the final against Manchester United. At the time, he was on loan with the Andalusian club from Real Madrid, as Tottenham came swooping in for his signature.
After a modest first campaign in the Premier League without any fans in the stands, his career began to plummet. Over the last few seasons, the full-back has spent loan spells at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford, as Tottenham deemed him surplus to requirements very early into his contract at the club.
Sergio Reguilon was one of those expected to leave Tottenham when his contract expired during the summer, and since that has happened, there has not been movement in pursuit of a new challenge. He was assessing the market for potential new suitors, but so far the 28-year-old has been without a new suitor.
As things stand, there is some reported interest from former side Sevilla and Real Sociedad, with either of those teams likely to look at his ready availability as a big factor in their decision to make a move. Reguilon still has some way to go in his career, and could decide on his next steps if he were to receive credible offers.
Sevilla and Real Sociedad are good options for Sergio Reguilon
Sevilla were indeed interested earlier in the year, and given their current financial predicament, they could view Reguilon as a bargain signing of sorts on favourable terms. They would ideally make an offer for the Spanish full-back’s consideration, as the player’s familiarity, as well as a good enough role, could potentially see a tilt from the player to consider them.
Real Sociedad were also interested earlier in the year, and they might feel the system in place might suit Sergio Reguilon more. Overall, if those two sides are serious about the 28-year-old Spaniard, offers might be forthcoming in the coming days, as there are some considerable doubts over the left-back’s career, as he has been without a club throughout the summer and even two weeks after the deadline.
