Newcastle United confident of agreeing new deal with Valentino Livramento

Newcastle United are confident of agreeing a new deal with star right-back Valentino Livramento amid growing interest from Manchester City.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are eager to keep hold of Valentino Livramento and confident of agreeing a new deal with the 22-year-old mainstay. The right-back is seen as a big target by Pep Guardiola and Manchester City, who might be pushing in the background to get hold of the defender.

Manchester City were planning on some big changes to their squad during the summer, including changing some key personnel in important positions. One of them was a new right-back to replace long-time veteran Kyle Walker, who signed for Burnley on a permanent deal.

Valentino Livramento was widely considered a key target for Pep Guardiola to replace Walker, although there were obvious difficulties in signing the Newcastle United star. The Magpies were embroiled in the Alexander Isak saga, which they finally caved in on by selling the striker to Liverpool.

As for Livramento, despite suggestions that Manchester City wanted him badly during the summer, Newcastle United were never prepared to consider offers for the defender. Hence, a move then was seemingly impossible; however, Manchester City could have tested the waters with a big offer.

Newcastle United have placed an £80 million price tag as per the report, and that could increase if Livramento continues with his development. Manchester City are willing to try for the defender, as Guardiola views his quality as a big factor for why the club wants him in the first place.

Newcastle United confident of Valentino Livramento stay

Newcastle United are ramping up efforts to agree a new deal with Livramento, which would potentially end the short-term speculation surrounding the 22-year-old mainstay. Should the English international sign on fresh terms, it will be a bitter blow for Manchester City’s efforts.

Manchester City tried to offer Rico Lewis as part of a deal for Valentino Livramento during the summer, but Newcastle United were uninterested in losing their defender. It remains to be seen whether the Magpies can agree on fresh terms with the versatile star, which would be a major coup for the Premier League side in their efforts to build towards the future.
