Hansi Flick pushing Barcelona to sign Marc Guehi

Hansi Flick has urged Barcelona to sign Crystal Palace defensive mainstay Marc Guehi, amidst interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid.

According to an update via Fichajes, Hansi Flick has demanded the signing of Marc Guehi, as he wants to bolster his backline. Reinforcing the defence is going to be a top priority for Barcelona in 2026, and the Crystal Palace ace is at the top of their wishlist.

Guehi has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Eagles. The Englishman has established himself as one of their mainstay, and he has been a constant feature in his national team. On the back of his sensational rise, multiple top clubs are interested in signing the 25-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in England.

With just a year left on his deal, Liverpool went all out to sign Guehi. The Reds even struck a deal with Palace on transfer deadline day, but Steven Parish eventually pulled the plug on the deal following Oliver Glasner’s request. The English international was not willing to let go of his best player, having failed to sign an ideal replacement.

While Crystal Palace managed to hold onto Guehi in the summer, his departure is now a certainty, as a new deal is nowhere in the picture. Guehi can choose to run down his deal and walk away for free. But it seems the South London outfit want to avoid that at all costs and are willing to sell him for a cut-price fee in the winter transfer window.

With the English international available for a nominal fee, multiple top clubs are ready to make a move for him. Liverpool will certainly revive their interest in him when the window reopens. Having already agreed personal terms with the player, they are optimistic about securing his services.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also interested in signing Marc Guehi, and they see this as a great market opportunity. With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger’s contracts running out, he could be just the perfect acquisition for the team in white.

Barcelona are ready to compete for Guehi’s signature

While Liverpool and Real Madrid are keen, Barcelona could try everything in their power to beat the competition. The Catalan giants want to reinforce their backline, and the Crystal Palace skipper is their priority target at the request of Flick.

The German manager is a massive admirer of Guehi and believes the 25-year-old has all the qualities needed to succeed at Barcelona. Despite the player’s age, he has a lot of experience at the highest level, and his leadership qualities could also come in handy.

Inigo Martinez has already left the club, and since Andreas Christensen could also be on his way out once his contract runs out, Barcelona certainly need to bring in a reliable centre-back. Given their recent financial struggles, signing a player of Guehi’s quality for a cut-price fee is too good an opportunity to miss out on for the Blaugrana.
