Borussia Dortmund open to permanent move for Aaron Anselmino
Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are reportedly open to launching a bid to complete a permanent move for 20-year-old Chelsea loanee Aaron Anselmino next year.
According to a report by German outlet Sport Bild, Aaron Anselmino may have a long-term future at Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old defensive sensation completed a season-long loan move to the Bundesliga club in the summer transfer window after Chelsea ruled that he would not receive regular game time in the 2025/26 season.
However, Chelsea did not include a purchase option in the loan agreement with Borussia Dortmund, although that has not deterred the Bundesliga outfit. The Black and Yellows are open to a permanent move for the South American prospect if he “convinces them” in the 2025/26 season.
Aaron Anselmino and his situation
Aaron Anselmino is one of several dozen highly-rated prodigies to join Chelsea since BlueCo took over the West London club from Roman Abramovich a few years ago. However, unlike prospects like Angelo Gabriel, Deivid Washington, and Cesare Casadei, the 20-year-old has a decent chance of becoming a regular for Chelsea in the next few years.
The Argentine defensive sensation has managed only one appearance thus far for Chelsea, and the West London club loaned him to Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window. The move has started well for Anselmino, who managed 76 minutes on his debut for the Bundesliga club.
Anselmino’s Bundesliga spell has begun well
While Aaron Anselmino has made a promising start for Borussia Dortmund, the Bundesliga giants have no purchase option to complete a permanent move next summer. However, that has not deterred Borussia Dortmund from contemplating a deal after the youngster’s loan ends.
So, the German club will face a daunting negotiating process with Chelsea if they seek a permanent move. Nevertheless, the Bundesliga giants are ready to approach the West London outfit if Anselmino “convinces them” with his performances during the 2025/26 season.
It is unclear if Chelsea will be open to sanctioning a permanent move for Anselmino next summer. However, considering they have not included a purchase option in the loan agreement with Borussia Dortmund, it seems unlikely that the Blues are open to parting ways with the 20-year-old Argentine defensive sensation again next year.
