Tottenham ready to hand double-your-money deal to Micky van de Ven to thwart Real Madrid

Tottenham are eager to keep hold of Micky van de Ven and hope to agree a double-your-money contract with the Dutch defender.

According to TBR, Tottenham are ready to offer a double-your-money deal to Micky van de Ven by way of a new deal at the club. The Dutchman is seen as a key piece for the team’s present and future, with clubs like Real Madrid already circling in the background for his signature.

Tottenham endured a terrible season in the Premier League, finishing 17th, but made amends by winning the Europa League. The triumph in the second-tier continental competition has allowed them entry into this season’s Champions League, although had that gone the other way around, the north Londoners would have faced the prospect of losing some of their big-name players.

Earlier in the summer, stars like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were linked with exits, as Tottenham have done an exceptional job to keep hold of the key defensive pairing. In fact, they made Romero their highest-paid star at the club after persuading the Argentine to sign fresh terms while handing him the captaincy following Son Heung-min’s departure.

Real Madrid contemplated making an offer for Romero, and now that Spurs have managed to keep the Argentine, the north Londoners will switch their attention towards securing Van de Ven’s future at the club. Real Madrid are also interested in the Dutchman, with Florentino Perez ready to fortify his defensive setup next summer.

Ibrahima Konate is a key target for Real Madrid, with Perez eyeing an opportunistic free transfer for the Liverpool man. Similarly, they had thought about spending big on Van de Ven, although they are also in the mix to sign Marc Guehi on a free transfer too, with the Spaniard expected to bring at least two high-profile centre-backs next summer.

Tottenham ready to table Micky van de Ven contract offer

Van de Ven is currently on a £50,000-a-week deal with Spurs that lasts until 2029, which does give the club power to decide his immediate future. However, Spurs are eager to reward the Dutchman for his brilliant performances and are willing to table a double-your-money contract offer to tie his future down in north London.

They are aware of the defender’s growing stature in the market, which has brought Real Madrid’s interest. However, they are confident of keeping the £50,000-a-week star for the long haul and will hope to thrash out a new deal to allow the Van de Ven and Romero partnership to continue.
