Manchester United line up €40 million move for Zeno Debast

Manchester United are planning an offensive on Sporting CP for their promising defender Zeno Debast, who has played under Ruben Amorim.

According to Fichajes, Manchester United are reportedly interested in Sporting CP defender Zeno Debast. The Belgian centre-back has been growing his reputation with some accomplished performances in Portugal, with the Red Devils reportedly willing to table a €40 million offer.

Sporting CP have often got it right when it comes to scouting a young player and developing them. In the case of Zeno Debast, the Belgian defender has developed well since he arrived from Anderlecht in the summer of 2024. He was instrumental and a key player for the Portuguese giants in their quest to win consecutive league titles.

A few Premier League sides have even considered signing him, as Sporting CP would be receptive to big offers that see them make a healthy profit on their investment in the 21-year-old whizkid. Manchester United are one of those keen, with Zebast likely to take his chances with a bigger club at this stage of his career.

Manchester United are not necessarily lacking in their defensive setup, but the club are eager to keep building for the future. The signings of Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven are a step in that direction, as someone like Debast could add to the competition.

The likes of Harry Maguire do not have a long time left with this team, even if the club manages to keep him for a few more years. Long-term planning seems to be Manchester United’s priority, and they see Debast as a good addition for their present and future.

Manchester United ready to table Zeno Debast bid

Manchester United are reportedly prioritising a holding midfielder in January, although they could angle a move for Debast too. The Red Devils are ready to table a €40 million bid for the Sporting CP defender and test the Portuguese side’s resolve.

Transfers with Portuguese sides are often complicated in the January window, but Manchester United are ready to test the waters. More importantly, they do not want to bring in competition for the 21-year-old whizkid when the summer window opens, as they want Debast at the earliest.
