Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United vying for Dani Vivian

A host of Premier League sides are vying for Dani Vivian, with an attractive €40 million release clause one of the big factors in the chase.

According to Fichajes, Athletic Club’s Dani Vivian is attracting considerable interest from Premier League sides ahead of the next window. Aston Villa, Manchester United and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in exploring a move for the centre-back, who has an attractive €40 million release clause in his contract.

The Premier League once again proved they are the cash-rich entities of the footballing world and are ready to challenge anyone when it comes to player transfers. The contrasting spending patterns between them and other top-five leagues painted a contrasting picture.

As soon as the January window opens, Premier League sides are expected to go on the offensive to further strengthen their squads. For instance, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are already looking closely at a possible move for Athletic Club defender Dani Vivian.

Having come through the Basque club’s academy ranks, much like most of their players, Vivian could see a unique opportunity to take a new challenge in his career. He has featured 152 times for the Athletic Club first team, and there could be a big attraction for him if a big enough Premier League side arrives at the door.

Manchester United were linked with the defender earlier in the year, and could now push to get a deal done either in January or next summer. Similarly, Aston Villa and Newcastle United could explore the prospect of signing the La Liga star, who has an attractive €40 million release clause in his current deal with Athletic Club.

Premier League sides to trigger Dani Vivian’s release clause?

Release clauses are something that Premier League clubs find attractive in a player they like, and in Vivian’s case, the €40 million sum seems like a bargain for the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United or Manchester United. They are at times wary of paying the entire sum in one single shot, but there are always conversations about paying more to help structure payments.

The €40 million-rated La Liga defender remains tied until 2032, and that may be the only part that Athletic Club could hold on to when negotiating with clubs. Hence, for Premier League sides to have the best chance at signing the Spaniard, they might have to trigger his release clause in full, as well as convince the player to leave his comfort zone for a new challenge elsewhere.
