Lyon’s Mahamadou Diawara to join Royal Antwerp

Olympique Lyonnais’ Mahamadou Diawara (20) is set to join Royal Antwerp on a season-long loan deal, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.

Diawara joined Lyon after leaving Paris Saint-Germain’s academy back in 2019. However, he has failed to establish himself and spent last season on loan at Le Havre AC. Whilst he played a part in keeping Les Ciel et Marines in the top-flight, it has not convinced OL to retain him for the current campaign; he is yet to play a single minute of football for Les Gones this season.

The midfielder is now all set for a move to Belgium, where he will join Royal Antwerp on loan. The Belgian side will pay a loan fee of €250k, whilst there will be a buy option of €3m, with OL including a 10% sell-on clause.

Diawara has been authorised to travel to Belgium in order to undergo his medical and complete the move. The officialisation of the move is expected soon.
