Nicolas Jackson let go of bonus payment to secure Bayern Munich move
Chelsea outcast Nicolas Jackson completed a move to Bayern Munich towards the end of the summer transfer window.
Nicolas Jackson joined Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on loan on deadline day of the summer transfer window, and a report from The Sun has now revealed that he made a monetary sacrifice to seal the transfer. The Senegalese international gave up a bonus payment of around €3 million in order to complete the move.
The 24-year-old would have struggled for regular game time at Chelsea if he had stayed at the club. Chelsea signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro in the summer transfer window, and they would not have been able to provide him with regular opportunities. A player of his quality needs to play regularly. Sitting on the bench at Chelsea would not have benefited him.
It will be interesting to see if Nicolas Jackson can hold down a regular starting spot at Bayern Munich. Harry Kane is undoubtedly the first-choice striker at the club, and it will be interesting to see if the Bavarian outfit are willing to try out a formation that involves two strikers.
Jackson could be a useful addition
Nicolas Jackson has shown his ability in the Premier League, and there is no doubt that he is good enough for the Bundesliga. He could be a very handy option for the Bundesliga champions. They will be hoping to do well across multiple competitions this season.
The German giants were quite mediocre in the UEFA Champions League, and they have added some much-needed depth to the attacking unit in order to do well in Europe. Luis Diaz has also joined the club, and he has been outstanding in his first few matches for the Bavarian club. They will hope that Jackson can make an instant impact as well.
Meanwhile, the Senegalese international is unlikely to join Bayern Munich permanently in future, and it will be interesting to see if he can impress in the Bundesliga and secure a permanent exit from Chelsea next summer. The Blues clearly do not view him as a key part of their plans anymore and it would make sense for them to sell the player.
