Official | AS Monaco’s Mayssam Benama joins FC Annecy
Mayssam Benama (20) has left AS Monaco to join Ligue 2 side FC Annecy, it has been confirmed.
Benama has come through the academy system at Monaco and has even worn the armband at youth level, however, the combative midfielder never made his debut for the senior side. He competed in the Principality club’s UEFA Youth League campaign last time around, even captaining the side managed by Djimi Traoré, but that did not prove to be a springboard for him to make the step up.
Benama has now left Les Monégasques on a permanent deal, joining Ligue 2 side Annecy. The France U20 international has signed a three-year deal with the club. After four matchdays in Ligue 2, Annecy are 14th in Ligue 2, having won once, drawn once, and lost twice.
Benama, now 20, will be looking to gain plenty of gametime in France’s top tier and help Annecy rise up the table.
