Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur retain Nathan Collins interest

Liverpool and Tottenham retain an interest in Brentford skipper Nathan Collins as those teams could consider a future approach.

According to Caught Offside, Nathan Collins is firmly on the radars of top teams such as Liverpool and Tottenham. The Irish international defender has been exceptional with his performances for Brentford, as he could be the subject of a big approach in future windows, either in January or next summer.

The transfer window slammed shut on Monday, and there was a feeling among some top clubs that their business was incomplete. For instance, Liverpool had agreed a deal for Marc Guehi earlier in the day, but the move collapsed as Crystal Palace could not find a suitable replacement for their skipper.

Liverpool had earlier signed Alexander Isak and had hoped to add defensive cover with the signing of Guehi, which left their summer business incomplete. Similarly, Spurs were angling for a move for a defender in the latter part of the window, with links to many key targets.

Spurs held an interest in several names, including Brentford star Nathan Collins. The 24-year-old Premier League defender has been impressive during his time in the top flight with both Wolves and now Brentford. He is seen as a leader of sorts, and his game has improved with each passing season.

Tottenham were expected to intensify their efforts to sign Collins in the summer, but the absence of a bid or approach of any sort indicated Brentford’s resilience. In fact, the Bees were uninterested in selling him, and have a long-term contract protecting their interest.

Brentford could receive Nathan Collins approaches

Liverpool were also interested in Collins, but did not prioritise the chase, as there were plenty of factors attached to the idea. However, the Merseysiders and Tottenham could make future approaches for the defender, which may come as soon as January.

The 24-year-old Premier League defender is an ambitious player who could regard an approach from a bigger club. However, Brentford are steadfast in their feeling about the defender and could demand a premium price to sell him as he’s tied there until 2029.
