West Ham United exploring late move for Bright Arrey-Mbi

West Ham United may look to sign 22-year-old German youth international Bright Arrey-Mbi from SC Braga in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

According to an update by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bright Arrey-Mbi is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the final hours of the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old SC Braga prospect has emerged as a target for the East London outfit.

Florian Plettenberg has revealed that West Ham and Braga have been in talks for several days. However, it is unclear if the Hammers have enough time to secure an agreement over a last-gasp move for the Cameroon-born centre-back in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

Bright Arrey-Mbi has embarked on an intriguing career thus far. Born in Cameroon, the 22-year-old spent his formative years in Germany and England, passing through the academies at SG Kaarst, Bedford FC, Norwich City, and Chelsea before graduating from the youth division at Bayern Munich.

However, the German youth international has risen in prominence since joining SC Braga from Hannover 96 last summer. Arrey-Mbi has amassed over 2,500 minutes of game time across 34 outings thus far for the Portuguese club. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including West Ham.

West Ham United’s interest in Bright Arrey-Mbi is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a centre-back in the final hours of the summer transfer window, having failed to sign a central defender in the last few weeks. Several candidates, including Charlie Cresswell, have thus emerged on West Ham’s radar.

The East London outfit also mulled over a deadline-day deal for Igor Julio before Crystal Palace swooped in and secured an agreement to sign the Brighton & Hove Albion defender. So, Arrey-Mbi has emerged as a viable alternative for West Ham.
